s considered to be the most advanced and scaled-up technology to capture CO2 from flue gases from coal-fired power statons. In additon to the pilot plant research, an extensive laboratory-based research program was set up. This focused on understanding and optmising existng amine-based liquid absorbent processes, developing new liquid absorbents (designer amines and ionic liquids), new PCC process configuratons, and the use of enzymes in liquid absorbent-based PCC processes. The experimental actvites were complemented with a power plant and PCC process modelling actvity, which used state-ofthe-art process modelling sofware augmented by modelling tools that were developed in-house.
