This report analyzes the history of energy storage in some countries, which are moving towards modernization of the grid in a more positive stance, while introducing the use of renewable energy. The report is based on battery storage in the grid, trying to uncover the forces that drive energy storage forward, as well as the efforts of utility companies, policy makers and other stakeholders in developing energy storage markets and supporting ongoing deployment. Our findings reveal a wide range of market drivers, and while there are still barriers, they also find common ground between them: product deployment and market development are accelerating.
