Under the energy transition scenario, electricity will become the core energy carrier by 2050, and its share in terminal energy consumption (TFEC) will increase from 20% in 2017 to nearly 50% in 2050. Total global electricity consumption will more than double. Electricity's share of final energy consumption is set to quadruple by 2050, from 0.25 percentage points a year to 1.0 percentage points a year.
