自2004年《可再生能源全球狀況報(bào)告》首次發(fā)布以來(lái)，許多可再生能源指標(biāo)都出現(xiàn)了顯著增長(zhǎng)。2008年，每年的可再生能源投資增加了四倍，達(dá)到1200億美元。四年從2004年年底結(jié)束- 2008,太陽(yáng)能光伏(PV)容量增加了六倍,超過(guò)16千瓦(GW),風(fēng)力發(fā)電能力增加了250%,達(dá)到121千瓦,和總新可再生能源發(fā)電量增長(zhǎng)了75%到280千瓦,包括顯著提升小水電、地?zé)帷⑸镔|(zhì)能發(fā)電。在同一時(shí)期，太陽(yáng)能加熱能力翻了一番，達(dá)到1450億瓦熱能(GWth)，而生物柴油產(chǎn)量翻了六倍，達(dá)到每年120億升，乙醇產(chǎn)量翻了一番，達(dá)到每年670億升。

Since 2004, when the Renewables Global Status Report was ?rst launched, many indicators of renewable energy have shown dramatic gains. Annual renewable energy investment has increased fourfold to reach $120 billion in 2008. In the four years from end-2004 to end-2008, solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity increased sixfold to more than 16 gigawatts (GW), wind power capacity increased 250 percent to 121 GW, and total power capacity from new renewables increased 75 percent to 280 GW, including signi?cant gains in small hydro, geothermal, and biomass power generation. During the same period, solar heating capacity doubled to 145 gigawatts-thermal (GWth), while biodiesel production increased sixfold to 12 billion liters per year and ethanol production doubled to 67 billion liters per year.
