The major African countries with big proven reserves are Libya （46.4 billion barrels, 3.4% of world total）, Nigeria （37.2 billion barrels, 2.7% of world total）, Angola （13.5 billion barrels, 1.0% of world total）, Algeria （12.2 billion barrels, 0.9% of world total） and Sudan （6.7 billion barrels, 0.5% of world total）.
